If you hang around Richmond and are always on the lookout for a new dessert spot, here’s some sweet news for you.
Coquitlam’s popular taiyaki and ice cream shop, Little Pisces, is making its way to Alexandra Road.
Back in June 2024, Little Pisces opened their first brick-and-mortar location after evolving from a successful pop-up.
Now, after months of scouting for the perfect second location, they’ve secured a spot in Richmond, taking over the former Me + Crepe unit that shut down in January.
The team confirmed with Noms Magazine that they’re aiming to open around summer time—perfect timing for ice cream season!
Founded by longtime friends Jacky Tian and Linda Dai, Little Pisces is all about giving a modern spin to traditional Japanese taiyaki.
Jacky and Linda’s friendship spans over 14 years, dating back to their high school days in Surrey.
Their backgrounds in tech and consulting have played a huge role in shaping Little Pisces into what it is today, including the more unique angle of how they market the business.
The main offering?
Taiyaki—their take on the classic fish-shaped pastry uses a mochi batter, creating a crispy outside with a satisfyingly chewy inside.
They offer both traditional fillings like red bean and custard, alongside trendy flavours like ube and hotteok.
Soft serve is also a big part of the experience at Little Pisces.
Customers can enjoy flavours like matcha, banana milk, and vanilla, served either in a cup or stacked inside a warm taiyaki.
Linda from Little Pisces shared that the Richmond outpost will introduce some exclusive flavours that won’t be available at the Coquitlam shop.
For Richmond foodies, this is exciting news.
Alexandra Road is already a hotspot for great eats, much like North Road, where Little Pisces’ first location quickly became a post-dinner favourite.
Now, hitting up Little Pisces for a taiyaki and ice cream combo after a meal is about to become a summer ritual for locals.
