Popular Vancouver Croissant Bakery Just Soft Opened in River District

River District just got a lot more tasty for anyone who takes their morning pastry seriously.

Angus T, the popular croissant-focused bakery that started in Yaletown back in 2018, has soft opened its newest location at River District.

We stopped by this week to check it out, and the space is already drawing a steady stream of customers despite being in soft opening mode.

If you are not familiar with Angus T, the bakery first made a name for itself at its Yaletown location on Mainland Street.

It quickly built a following for its hand-crafted croissants made daily with ingredients sourced from France and Vancouver.

A second location opened at Park Royal in West Vancouver in 2022, followed by a central kitchen on South West Marine Drive.

We reported on the brand’s expansion plans last year, and the River District shop is now the fourth location to come out of that growth.

The new shop sits in the corner unit beside the Everything Wine Store, with a modern glass storefront and a wooden deck entrance.

Inside, the space feels open and airy.

The ceilings are high, and floor-to-ceiling windows flood the room with natural light.

Black pendant lights hang from above, and the seating area has a mix of wooden tables and booth seating with tan upholstery set against a warm brick accent wall.

It has the same minimalist, clean look that Angus T is known for, but the double-height ceilings give this location a slightly different feel than the cozy Yaletown original with that open kitchen view.

The display case is the first thing you see when you walk in.

It runs the length of the counter and was stacked with freshly baked croissants sitting on cooling racks when we visited.

The menu boards above list the full lineup of sweet croissants, savory croissants, cinnamon buns, and drinks.

Sweet croissant flavours include Double Baked Almond, Black Sesame, Earl Grey, Green Tea, Pistachio Raspberry, Hazelnut Chocolate, among others.

On the savory side, there is Ham and Gruyere, Spinach and Feta, Chicken and Tomato, 3 Cheese, Balsamic Onion Jam and Bacon, and a Dijon Pesto Beef Brisket croissant.

The drink menu covers the essentials with espresso, lattes, cappuccinos, matcha lattes, chai, and loose leaf tea.

Right now, during the soft opening phase, the bakery is only open until 4:30 pm.

The grand opening is set for February 14, which also happens to be Valentine’s Day, and they will be offering 20% off everything that day only.

Once the grand opening passes, expect extended hours.

River District is a neighbourhood that has been growing fast with new condos and townhomes, but it has been light on specialty food and coffee spots.

A bakery like Angus T fills a gap that residents have been waiting for.

Angus T River District now joins other recently opened food spots in Vancouver like Cockney Kings Main Street, UCHU, and Nine Bar Coffee.
