In Vancouver, ramen isn’t just food, it’s a survival strategy.
Even if it’s a gloom-filled ‘Raincouver’ afternoon or a late-night craving, nothing hits quite like a steaming bowl of rich, fatty broth and perfectly chewy noodles.
As someone who has slurped their way through every neighborhood in the city, I’ve updated our annual list for 2026.
From the legendary lineups in the West End to the massive ‘monster’ portions in Downtown, here are the 12 best ramen spots in Vancouver you simply cannot miss.
1. Ramen Danbo
Ramen Danbo is no doubt recognized by most Vancouverites (and us) for being the best ramen spot in Vancouver.
Here they serve Fukuoka-style Tonkotsu ramen that you can customize your ramen bowl, selecting noodle firmness, broth type, lard amount, thickness, and spiciness.
A top recommendation for first-timers is their traditional Shio ramen, complemented with a Soft-Boiled Egg.
Due to its popularity among locals and tourists, be prepared for lines during peak hours – but it’s worth the wait!
What to order: Shio ramen, Soft-Boiled Egg, Karashi Takana
Address:
– 1833 West 4th Avenue, Vancouver, BC V6J 1M4
– 1333 Robson Street, Vancouver, BC V6E 1C6
– 2277 W 41st Ave, Vancouver, BC V6M 2A3
2. Maruhachi Ra-men
Maruhachi (formerly Marutama) is the gold standard for Tori Paitan (Chicken broth) in Vancouver.
Unlike the heavy pork broths found elsewhere, their soup is creamy, collagen-rich, and incredibly velvety without leaving you feeling weighed down.
The Tamago Ramen, with cha siu and a perfectly cooked egg, is a crowd favourite (and ours).
For a true ramen experience, add garlic chips to elevate the flavour profile.
Pro tip: Always add the garlic chips. You will never be the same again after trying it.
What to order: Tamago Ramen, Aka Ramen, Veggie Curry Ramen
Address:
– 780 Bidwell St, Vancouver, BC V6G 2J6
– 270 Robson St, Vancouver, BC V6B 0E7

3. Hokkaido Ramen Santouka

Santouka’s tale began in Hokkaido with just nine seats and one stellar dish – the Shio ramen. They’re all about family-friendly bowls, simmering pork bones for hours for a mild, health-conscious broth.
It’s not boiling hot, making it perfect for kids and grandparents alike.

In Chinatown lies The Ramen Butcher, an edgy nook churning out house-made thin noodles. Dare to try their black garlic ramen; it’s a unique spin with a rich garlic punch.

Ramen Kounotori on Main Stret keeps it simple yet satisfying each time, focusing on chicken-based broth with just four ramen options and three sides.
Each ramen bowl includes chicken chashu, caramelized onions, and a soft-boiled egg with a yolk that’s thick creamy, and slightly runny.
For a creamy chicken broth, the Tori Paitan which literally translates to “chicken white broth” is your best bet. A sip feels just like a warm blanket on a rainy day!

6. Ramen Gojiro

If you are hungry (and we mean starving) Ramen Gojiro is your final boss.
Specializing in Jiro-style ramen, they are known for massive “monster” portions featuring thick, chewy noodles, piles of bean sprouts, and mountains of garlic.
But the real star here is the Karaage Ramen.
Instead of just standard chashu pork, they top their bowls with huge, crispy chunks of Japanese fried chicken (Karaage). It’s heavy, it’s intense, and it is absolutely delicious.

7. Horin Tonkotsu Ramen

While often compared to its neighbour Danbo, Horin deserves the spotlight in its own right. Bringing a slice of Fukuoka to Vancouver, this spot specializes in a deep, customizable Tonkotsu broth that rivals the city’s biggest names.
Choose The One, their special, and enjoy a full array of toppings. Pair it with their Gyoza for an authentic ramen experience – it’s a combo that complements and elevates.

8. Kintaro Ramen

Kintaro Ramen’s charm lies in its simplicity and authenticity, reminiscent of Tokyo’s bustling ramen joints. Their straightforward menu lets you fine-tune your soup’s richness and the cha-shu’s fattiness.

Menya Raizo isn’t exactly a hidden gem but it is one that locals gatekeep for a reason. Located on West Broadway, this spot offers a calm, authentic atmosphere that feels like a quick trip to Japan.
It is one of the few ramen spots where all the staff enthusiastically greet you when you walk in and when you walk out.
While they do the classics well, they are popular for their Spicy Tonkotsu Miso: a rich, fiery broth that doesn’t sacrifice flavor for heat.
Their ordering system is old-school (you circle your choices on a paper sheet), allowing you to fully customize the firmness of your noodles and the richness of your oil.
