The closure of a spot always hurts the most when it’s a place filled with memories of your childhood and school years.

Yep – we sadly have to share that Ebisu in Richmond has shut down.

On February 25, 2024, the restaurant announced via its social media channels that it had closed its doors after more than 30 years of operation.

For many locals (and us), Ebisu was more than just a casual dining spot.

From high school birthdays and university celebrations to adult milestones, it was the backdrop for countless memories.

We still remember chugging down a jagger bomb at Ebisu before heading out for laser tag nearby!

Although it wasn’t known for having the best food, it was celebrated for its affordability and a huge menu that catered to a wide range of tastes.

Whether it was sushi rolls, Japanese udon, oysters, bentos, or a selection of alcoholic beverages, Ebisu had something for everyone.

While the Richmond location has now shuttered, the legacy of Ebisu continues at their other locations on Robson and Broadway or their sister restaurants, Kamei on Broadway and Kamei Royale in Downtown.

According to the goodbye Facebook Post, mention you are a ‘Richmond Ebisu customer’ at Kamei Royale or Kamei on Broadway, you can receive 15% OFF your meal.
