First Look: Inside the New Paragon Tea Room on Cambie (And The One Major Change)

Last updated:

Matcha & hojicha lovers, the wait is finally over.

After nearly a year of anticipation, delays, and a temporary pop-up downtown, Paragon Tea Room has officially returned to Cambie Village.

The location is dubbed as Paragon Tea Room Cambie 3.0.

Starting Monday, January 12th, the shop enters a “soft soft” opening phase (an unannounced opening period primarily for staff training & tweaking), with the official soft opening kicking off on Friday, January 16th.

We got an early look at the space during their Friends & Family event, and it is stunning.

Taking over the former Xing Fu Tang unit (right beside the new Street Hawker Turbo), the cafe encapsulates co-founder Michelle Cheung’s vision of a modern tea sanctuary.

The interior strikes a balance between modern and earthy, featuring a long curved wood counter, warm lighting, and sleek teal wall accents that nod to the brand’s signature colour.

The design is packed with thoughtful details:

  • The Entrance: A “stone path” design on the floor leads you from the door straight to the order counter.
  • The Walls: Vertical copper accents and marble tiles are meant to resemble tree barks and branches, bringing a natural feel indoors.
  • The “Rain” Feature: A clever hanger by the door where your umbrella drips rain directly onto a row of live plants underneath. A poetic nod to Vancouver weather.

There is one major change regulars need to know: leave your laptop at home.

Unlike the old location (and Richmond outpost), this new spot has removed the tables in favour of more bench seating.

Michelle shared that the goal is to create a true tea house atmosphere where people are present and chatting, rather than glued to screens.

Just like their original spot, the new location features a dedicated retail wall for those who want to bring the Paragon experience home.

You can find everything from bags of their ceremonial grade matcha and hojicha, to essential accessories like bamboo whisks.

The bar features a brand-new, sleek, branded Teapresso machine to quickly brew concentrated tea.

The menu here mirrors the other locations and will have all your fave tea mistos and bubble waffle items.

One new addition is a new food item.

Paragon is introducing a line of Shortbread Sandwiches designed to mimic a “tea flight.”

They come in flavours like HK Milk Tea, Jasmine Oolong, Matcha, London Fog, and Raspberry.

We tried the Iced Hojicha Mango Oat paired with the HK Milk Shortbread, and it’s safe to say Paragon hasn’t lost its touch.

The hours of this location will follow the same hours as its previous Cambie outpost: Mon – Sat: 10AM – 7PM & Sun: 10AM – 6PM.

But because they are heading into soft soft opening phase, you’ll want to check in with their Instagram to see the most up to date hours for this location.

Paragon Tea Room joins a wave of new openings in the city, including Glasshouse, Crave Cheesesteaks, and Caravanserai.
