In a city that’s seen its fair share of closures, it’s refreshing to shift gears and spotlight a bright new beginning.
While on a drive, we spotted signs for Olivier’s la Boulangerie plastered on the ground floor of a new condo unit on Fraser and 23rd.
Olivier’s isn’t a newcomer to the bread scene; their name is already well-known across BC.
They’ve been supplying their artisan bread to a variety of supermarkets, restaurants, and even golf courses, including Save On Foods, No Frills, IGA, Whole Foods, and Nesters Market.
Plus, they already have a bakery café in Coquitlam.
But who’s behind Olivier’s Breads?
Meet Olivier Audibert, whose journey to bread-making is as rich and layered as his loaves. Before moving to Canada in 2008, Olivier left his job as a Sales Manager and, with a nudge from his wife, dove into the world of baking at a prestigious school in northern France.
By 2009, Olivier’s Breads was born, bringing Western Canada a taste of authentic French artisan bread.
At Olivier’s, bread isn’t just baked; it’s crafted.
Embracing the centuries-old European tradition of slow fermentation, Olivier’s ensures each loaf is naturally leavened, enhancing digestibility and flavour.
This process, known as Slow Crafted, ensures no chemical preservatives, GMO grains, or high-gluten elements ever make it into their bread.
For those living near Fraser Street, what can you expect?
If the offerings are anything like their Coquitlam location, residents can look forward to a gigantic pastry case filled with an array of croissants, cookies, artisan breads, decadent desserts, cheesecakes, and tarts.
And for those seeking a savoury bite, seven different kinds of sandwiches await, alongside a selection of caffeinated beverages to kickstart your day.
The new outpost is set to open sometime in March, but those who are on their newsletter will be the first to know!
