Popular Fry Spot ‘Potato Corner’ Mysteriously Closes Richmond Location

Well, pour one out for those flavoured fries, folks.

Looks like the party’s over for Potato Corner at the Aberdeen Centre food court, and it happened without much fanfare.

The Filipino chain, offering the “World’s Best Flavoured Fries,” has quietly shut down its Richmond location after roughly two years.

We noticed something was off during a recent walk through the Aberdeen Centre food court – the lights were dark and the stall partly cleared out during prime time.

A quick check online confirmed it: Google now officially lists the Aberdeen Centre Potato Corner as “permanently closed.”

This means no more grabbing those signature shoestring, loopy, or waffle fries dusted with cheese, chili BBQ, or that addictive wasabi seasoning right in the heart of Aberdeen.

A definite blow for fans who relied on it for their food court fix.

Potato Corner opened this food court stall back in 2023, taking over the old Jay Chou Liang Cripsy Roll unit.

Potato Corner first landed in BC back in 2020 with a store on Kingsway, later expanding to Surrey and rolling out food trucks.

This sudden closure shakes things up even more in Richmond’s already constantly changing food court landscape.

You’ve got Empire Centre buzzing with new openings, while other food courts like Pacific Plaza have seen departures.

Meanwhile, the food court right next door at Aberdeen Square continues its struggle with empty units.

So, what does this mean for Potato Corner lovers?

Thankfully, you can still hunt down their other locations (like Kingsway or Surrey) or keep an eye out for their food trucks to get your seasoned fry fix.

Did you notice the closure? Or grab one last bag of fries before they shut? Let us know!
