Another piece of Richmond’s famous food street has quietly gone dark.
Golden Time BBQ, the self rotating Chinese BBQ skewer spot on Alexandra Road, appears to have closed.
We recently spotted its signage covered up with a fresh banner announcing a new Korean BBQ concept coming soon to the unit.

Golden Time had been operating on Alexandra Road since 2021, making it just shy of a five year run on Richmond’s famous food street.
The restaurant was one of the more novel BBQ concepts in the area thanks to its self rotating, self cooking grill setup.
Skewers would slowly spin over the heat at your table, keeping every stick warm and evenly cooked without anyone having to flip them manually.
It was a format you genuinely could not find anywhere else in Metro Vancouver, and it made Golden Time stand out from the usual Chinese BBQ and Korean BBQ spots clustered around Alexandra Road.
The menu covered beef, lamb, chicken, seafood, and veggie skewers, alongside fried rice, cold dish appetizers, and a list of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.
It was the kind of casual, low effort late night spot that made it easy to sit down with friends, order a pile of skewers, and stay for a while over drinks.
In April 2025, Golden Time even opened a location in Houston, Texas, marking its first expansion into the US market.
Now the original Richmond location is done.
The coming soon banner taped over Golden Time’s storefront confirms another Korean BBQ spot will be moving in, though no further details have been released yet.
The closure is part of a larger wave of turnover hitting Alexandra Road this year.
Next door, Manzo Izakaya has also shut down after 26 years in operation, leaving another gap on the same stretch.

Last month alone, Richmond lost Little Karp and Seto Sushi, both longtime fixtures on or just off the food street.
There is a bit of good news mixed in with all the departures, though.
We recently reported that Cafe Gloucester, the beloved Hong Kong style cafe that has been on Cambie Street for over 20 years, is slated to take over the former Little Karp unit just down the street.
It is a strange moment for Alexandra Road, which has long been one of the most dense food corridors in Metro Vancouver.
The old guard is turning over fast, but the next wave of tenants is already lining up to move in.
