When we first reported this closure back in December, March felt far away.
It’s not anymore.
Goldilocks, the Filipino bakery that’s been part of Main Street for 18 years, has posted its official farewell on Instagram.
“With grateful hearts, we will be permanently closing our Vancouver location on March 15,” the announcement reads.
The bakery said the decision was not easy, and acknowledged the role the shop has played in people’s lives over the years.
“You’ve trusted us to be part of your birthdays, celebrations, holidays, and everyday sweet moments,” the post continued.
The comments tell their own story.
Sad face emojis. Promises to stop by one last time.
One person wrote “you’ll be missed, but glad your Burnaby store is still open.”

For a lot of Filipino families in Vancouver, Goldilocks carried a lot of nostalgia and a prime spot for birthday cakes.
The brand goes back to the 1960s in the Philippines and first arrived in Vancouver in 1984.
The Main Street location opened 18 years ago and has been woven into the Mount Pleasant fabric ever since.
When we broke the news in December, the team also hinted at a new location coming soon.
No address has been shared yet, and this farewell post didn’t mention it either.
The good news is the Burnaby location on North Fraser Way will stay open, so Goldilocks isn’t leaving Metro Vancouver entirely.
