If you’re a sushi lover in Richmond, this one’s for you!
Back in May 2023, we shared the exciting news that Hello Nori was making its way to Richmond.
Well, the wait is over—the brand’s third BC location is now officially open at Richmond Centre (across from Uniqlo) as of Friday, August 23rd!
Grand Opening Promo:
For a limited time, Hello Nori Richmond is giving away $20 promo cards for you to use on a future dine-in visit. (Limited to one per bill.)
Hello Nori is considered BC’s first-handroll bar, opening their first location on Robson Street back in 2021.
The magic happens at a U-shaped bar, where you can watch as your crispy hand rolls are made right before your eyes.
With warm rice and the freshest, sustainably sourced ingredients, every roll is prepared to order, ensuring a meal that’s not only delicious but also a visual and interactive experience.
Hello Nori is the passion project of owner Jean-François Eap, who, despite being a newcomer to the hospitality scene, has a background in retail and tech.
His vision for Hello Nori is rooted in honoring Japanese culinary traditions while celebrating the bounty of Vancouver’s local seafood and produce.
Helping bring the vision to life is Chef Jay Pugong, who helms the culinary program for Hello Nori. Chef Jay has over 15 years of experience with Japanese cuisine and was previously the head chef at Minami.
Like the Robson Street and Brentwood outposts, the Richmond one has a similar U-shaped bar layout, offering the same experience fans of the brand know and love.
It is the largest Hello Nori with 36 seats available.
Design wise, it follows a similar theme as the others, in blending wood, metal, and concrete to bring a bit of BC’s natural beauty indoors.
The ceiling design here immediately catches your eye.
The wooden slats fan out from a central point, mimicking the branches of a tree reaching upwards.
It’s like you’re sitting under a massive, artistic canopy that adds a natural, organic feel to the space.
Menu-wise, it’s the same as the other locations.
That means you’ll find a variety of fresh fish available in handroll form—from salmon to truffle lobster, bluefin tuna, and flame-seared unagi.
And depending on the fish they are able to acquire, the daily special will be different. During our visit, it was an Ikura handroll.
If you’re having trouble deciding, they offer three different handroll combo options to choose from too.
If you fancy a drink, they have non-alcoholic options like Nitro Matcha Brew, White Peach, and more.
Or, if you’re looking for something with a buzz, they have several colorful cocktails and house sake (which is really good) available.
For Richmond locals who crave a perfectly crafted hand roll, this is fantastic news—Hello Nori is now right in your neighbourhood.
