Hot pot’s reign in Metro Vancouver isn’t slowing down anytime soon.
Big Way’s multiplying faster than your cousin’s group chat replies—over 8 locations and counting.
Just last week, Datang Hotpot joined the scene by taking over the former Blue Whale unit.
And now?
A familiar name is about to enter the hot pot battle.
Deer Garden, the longtime Hong Kong-style noodle chain we all know and probably have slurped soup at, is throwing its hat into the hot pot ring.
Let’s rewind.
Back in July 2024, Deer Garden said goodbye to their Union Square location after a solid 9-year run.
The closing note reassured fans they’d be relocating to the #120 unit inside Richmond’s new One Park building—right across from Richmond Centre.
Fast forward a few months, and everyone assumed business would go on as usual—until Deer Garden randomly popped up again across from the Richmond Oval in the old Copa Cafe spot.
Two Deer Garden locations in Richmond?
Eh, not that shocking.
But wait. There’s more.
On a recent stroll, we noticed the doors to the #120 One Park unit wide open.
And what we saw inside was definitely not your typical noodle shop setup.
Instead, we saw sleek, minimalist mural design that simply said “Hot Pot” and, more intriguingly, a new name: Deer One Hotpot.
So yes—it looks like Deer Garden is officially diving into the hot pot game.
Will it be self-serve malatang style like Big Way and Datang?
Or will they go old-school with individual pots and sauce trays galore? That part’s still a mystery.
Richmond’s One Park complex is shaping up to be a serious foodie zone, with Deer One Hotpot joining Sushi Lovers, Hui Lau Shan, and Sungiven.
Currently there is no other information out about Deer One Hotpot, but when we know more, we’ll let you know!
