Hot pot is more trendy than ever, with new spots popping up in Burnaby and Richmond seemingly every month.
Even so, it’s easy to forget about the OG hot spots that paved the way.
One such spot, Boiling Point, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, has sadly quietly closed its Main Street location—and its unit is now up for sale.
Boiling Point first opened its doors in 2004 in California before expanding to Canada in 2010, quickly becoming a fav for its Taiwanese Hot Pots.
Known for its individualized hot pot portions made with fresh ingredients, Boiling Point has held a special place in the hearts of many locals.
For those of us who grew up in Vancouver, it was often the go-to spot during high school, where we’d enjoy a steaming bowl of hot soup alongside a Hokkaido milk tea.
Though Boiling Point hasn’t been inthe spotlight like some of the newer, shinier brands, it has remained a beloved staple.
Unfortunately, the Main Street location – which opened in 2018 -permanently shut down back on August 5th from the signage on the door.
The unit is now up for sale, with a commercial listing price of $368,000 for the 1,600 square-foot space—posted just five days ago.
While it’s sad to see this OG hot pot spot close its doors, fans of Boiling Point can still get their fix at the Richmond or Burnaby outposts.
