Kitsilano is getting a sweet new hangout spot and people are already talking about it.
We spotted signage for Dario going up at the former Baroness unit on West Broadway, right at Macdonald, which is one of the busiest corners in the neighbourhood.
This will be the brand’s first Vancouver location and it looks like it is shaping up to be a cozy Italian style cafe with plenty of gelato for good measure.
Dario currently operates out of Guildford Town Centre in Surrey and has been teasing expansion.
The concept leans Italian cafe culture with slow moments, quick shots of espresso, and a little sweetness to go with it.
On the coffee side, expect familiar Italian classics: espresso, macchiato, cappuccino, Americanos, and iced riffs for the warm months.
The brand highlights 100% Arabica beans imported from Italy, which should translate into crema‑rich pulls and balanced milk drinks.
If you’re more of a spoon‑in‑hand person, their gelato case is the other headline.
They are made with Canadian dairy and rotating flavours that lean crowd‑pleasing (hello, pistachio and hazelnut) with room for seasonal picks.
Dario shops tend to aim for warm, well‑lit interiors with a comfortable linger factor.
You’ll find counter‑first service, a tidy pastry lineup, and seating that works for both solo laptop hours and catch‑ups over a double scoop.
Given the corner footprint, this one should play nicely as a neighbourhood hub for quick mornings and lazy afternoon strolls.
Dario also teased that they’re also landing in Richmond’s Alexandra Rd as well this November.
Zooming out, the coffee‑and‑dessert lane is heating up across the city.
Main Street is set to welcome C Market Coffee. Over on Fraser, Korean donut darling Goldie’s Donut & Bakery is working on a new shop.
And for tea lovers, legendary Thai brand Cha Tra Mue is gearing up for its first Vancouver outpost.
The Vancouver location is slated to open this November.
