Lonsdale Quay’s transformation continues and this new opening adds a taste of Florence to the mix.

Fiorino, the award-winning Italian street food spot from Chinatown, has just soft opened a second location in North Vancouver.

A Noms Mag community member (@eatingwithvee) spotted the spot quietly opening for service last week on the second floor of the Lonsdale Quay Market.

They take over the old Cheshire Cheese unit and the adjacent dance studio.

If the name Fiorino rings a bell, it’s because their Chinatown outpost opened back in 2021. In fact, the spot was awarded the MICHELIN Bib Gourmand designation in both 2022 and 2023.

Fiorino’s origin story is just as heartwarming as its food.

It began with founder Giovanni Mascagni, who moved to BC from Florence and couldn’t find the one thing he missed most – true schiacciata bread.

After a return trip home to learn the centuries-old baking methods from a market baker, he brought the techniques back to Canada, launching a dream that fused authentic bread, street food culture, and aperitivo vibes.

The soft open menu at the new Lonsdale Quay spot leans into the “Cena” (dinner) side of Fiorino’s dual identity.

Items are designed for sharing and include comforting small plates like arancini with sweet corn risotto and roasted tomato cream, as well as crispy panzanella with fried bread and pineapple vinaigrette.

There’s also the rich tagliatelle primavera with sunflower seed pesto and the indulgent Bistecca alla Fiorentina – a massive dry-aged Porterhouse steak made for four.

Dessert offerings include a classic tiramisu and rotating gelato or affogato selections.

The full grand opening is set for July 22nd, giving fans on the North Shore a new go-to for casual Italian eats and after-work aperitivo hours.

With its prime view of the harbour and convenient second-floor perch, it’s set to become a cozy new hangout for locals and visitors alike.

Fiorino now joins other new food arrivals on the North Shore like Kings Tap and Krave Kulture, solidifying Lonsdale Quay’s comeback as a vibrant, modern market destination.
