It’s a tough season for Japanese cuisine lovers in Metro Vancouver, as we say goodbye to yet another spot.
Kizami Japanese Cuisine in Richmond has announced it will be closing its doors permanently on May 31st.
Spotted today in a Facebook Group, the closure news has come as a surprise to many.
Since its opening in January 2018, Kizami has been a fav for those seeking a more izakaya-like experience rather than just a sushi bar.
With its wide selection of sushi, sashimi, robata, and more, Kizami offered a cozy, ambient dining experience reminiscent of Japan’s popular casual pubs.
Kizami stood out with its playful and creative menu items, especially its Pokemon-themed rolls like the Charmander Roll and Pikachu Roll.
On May 25th, the Kizami team expressed their heartfelt thanks to their patrons with a short but sweet farewell message on their official Facebook page.
They expressed gratitude for the support that has been extended to them over the past few years, making it clear that the decision to close wasn’t an easy one.
With its impending closure, Kizami will join the ranks of several other Japanese establishments in the area that have recently turned off their lights for good, including Ebisu Richmond, Kazu, Shizenya on Broadway, and soon, Koko which is set to close in June.
For those who’ve cherished Kizami’s unique take on Japanese cuisine, there are just a few days left to experience this Richmond gem one last time.
