Kerrisdale’s about to get a new addition to the neighbourhood!
Daruma, the Japanese snack shop brand is opening a new location in the area.
After recently closing their two Richmond locations in February, signs for a new Daruma outpost were spotted by Noms Mag community member thecafebuzz, this time on the ground floor of one of Kerrisdale’s newer developments.
Daruma launched back in 2022 at Richmond’s Union Square Plaza, offering a selection of unique Japanese snacks.
Think Tokyo Banana, Shizuoka honeydew melons, cheese desserts, Tamago Honpo chocolate eggs, flower butter cookies, and even rare premium Japanese fruits you’d struggle to find anywhere else in Metro Vancouver.
They quickly expanded to PARQ Casino and Steveston in 2023, and even a massive 3,000 sq.ft flagship at Tsawwassen Mills.
Although their two Richmond locations recently shuttered, the PARQ Casino and Tsawwassen Mills stores remain open, keeping fans stocked with their favourite goodies.
Now, the new Kerrisdale location marks Daruma’s next move to further their Vancouver presence.
Interestingly, unlike typical Kerrisdale food spots that cluster around bustling 41st Avenue, Daruma’s chosen location sits slightly outside the main high-traffic areas.
Will this quieter spot attract the same eager snack hunters?
Time will tell.
