Longtime Kitsilano Fried Chicken & Biscuit Spot Is Closing After Seven Years

It looks like another longtime Vancouver spot is sadly shutting its doors (for now).

Earlier this month, some creators who stopped by Chewies Chicken and Biscuits in Kitsilano shared that the team quietly told them the shop would be closing soon.

At the time, there was no confirmed last day, and neither the creators nor the owners had shared an official date.

But on November 18, Chewies posted a full announcement confirming that their final day of service will be Sunday, November 23, as the entire block prepares for redevelopment.

The closure marks the end of a seven year run for the family owned shop, which first opened in 2018.

It comes from Richard Chew, who many Vancouver diners will remember from his previous project, Chewies Oyster Bar, before he shifted gears into a chicken and biscuit concept.

Since then, Chewies Chicken and Biscuits became a local favourite, especially among Kits regulars who kept it in their weekend rotation.

The shop was known for freshly baked biscuits, fried chicken brunch plates, hefty sandwiches, biscuit breakfast combos, and the house made desserts that fans always raved about.

Their Google rating tells the story too, sitting at 4.8 stars with years of love from locals and returning visitors.

In their announcement, Chewies shared a heartfelt message to the Kits community, thanking regulars for making their small shop feel like home.

They mentioned countless memories, friendships, and weekend rituals that formed around the little biscuit counter.

And even though the store is closing, they made it clear this is not goodbye forever.

They’re already working on a comeback and encouraged people to follow along for updates.

For now though, they’ll be joining a wave of recent Vancouver closures, including Mapo Pancake House, Floata Seafood Restaurant, and MeeT in Gastown.

If Chewies was part of your Kits routine, this week is your last chance to grab a biscuit, say goodbye, and show support before the team steps away to prepare for whatever comes next.
