It looks like another shakeup might be coming to Downtown Vancouver’s fried chicken scene.
We spotted that the West End location of Kyochon, the famous South Korean fried chicken chain, has just been listed for sale, less than a year after first opening its doors.
Located on Robson Street, this was Kyochon’s first Canadian outpost, which officially launched in July 2024 in the former Pizza Maru unit.

The global chain has roots going back to 1991 and boasts over 100 locations in Korea and more than 75 internationally, including in the U.S., China, and UAE.
While the Robson spot has been fairly well received, with a solid 4.6-star rating on Google and plenty of love from fried chicken fans, it seems that wasn’t enough to lock in long-term plans (or for its current owner).
The listing prices the unit at $450,000, describing it as a “turn-key restaurant in a high traffic location,” with four years left on the lease and an option to renew.
It also leaves the door open for change, inviting prospective buyers to “continue with the current business model or bring your own ideas.”
Kyochon has built a reputation for crispy, double-fried Korean chicken, and the Robson menu features signature flavours like Soy Garlic, Spicy Red, Honey, and Salsal (crispy rice-coated).
Chicken comes in drumsticks, wings, boneless bites, or half-and-half combos, with sets designed for 2 to 4 people, often paired with fries, soft drinks, and pickled radish.
The West End area has definitely seen the highest turnover in the last couple of years, when it comes to food spots.
For now, it is uncertain whether Kyochon will stick around under new ownership or is replaced entirely.

Note: The observation of a commercial listing does not inherently imply the closure of a business. It is possible that the establishment is undergoing a change in ownership or maybe in the process of relocating. The purpose of reporting on such listings is to provide insight into the dynamic nature of the local food industry and its evolving landscape.
