If you’re a fan of Korean street food, get ready to celebrate because one of South Korea’s most beloved brands is coming to town!
We spotted signage for Sinjeon Topokki opening its first BC outpost in Coquitlam’s bustling North Road area.
Yup right in the heart of K-Town!
It makes sense that they chose this spot, surrounded by some of the best Korean eateries in the Metro Vancouver.
Sinjeon Topokki will be taking over the former Myung Ga Mandu unit, which recently closed its doors.
This marks the fourth Sinjeon location in Canada, following their arrival in Toronto in 2021.
Founded in Daegu in 1999, Sinjeon started as a humble street food stall and has since grown into a powerhouse with over 700 locations across South Korea and 9 international outposts.
Ofcourse from its name – the star here is their tteokbokki (spicy Korean rice cakes).
But it’s not just the original spicy tteokbokki either.
You’ll find crowd-favourites like Rosé Tteokbokki and Creamy Carbonara Tteokbokki here.
There are three spice levels to choose from: level 1, similar to the heat of Shin Ramyun; level 2, matching the spiciness of Buldak Ramen; and level 3, bringing the intense heat of 2x Buldak Ramen.
One pro tip that we see everyone in Toronto doing: add cheese on top your tteokbokki order for that epic cheese pull!
In addition to their famous tteokbokki, the menu will also feature other popular street food classics like fried fish cakes, mini kimbap rolls, and Korean fried dumplings.
The great thing about Sinjeon is that they have several combos that combine a variety of these street food snacks so can get a taste of each!
According to the official Sinjeon Topokki Lougheed Instagram, the Coquitlam location is set to open on February 1st.
If you’ve been dreaming of recreating those K-drama foodie moments, this spot will be your new go-to.
