A Yaletown cafe that many locals grew up with has quietly called it quits.
Coo Coo, the longtime independent shop first opened around 2009 and became a small but steady go to for people living and working in the neighbourhood.
It was the kind of spot where you grabbed a morning coffee, sat outside, and watched the Davie Street foot traffic roll by.

Earlier this month, the team posted a short goodbye on Instagram, thanking customers for the years of support.
Regulars jumped in with messages of love while everyone agrees the block won’t feel the same without them.
Now the windows are covered, the signage is gone, and something new is already taking shape inside.

A Noms Mag community member (@alannnblu) spotted “coming soon” signs for Nine Bar Coffee at the same Davie Street unit.
Nine Bar has been operating around Vancouver since spring 2024 with a mobile coffee setup and catering gigs, but this will be their first brick-and-mortar location.
They’re aiming to open by December.
For a bit of nostalgia, Coo Coo Coffee had its share of quirks and fan favourites.
The spot was known for Bullet Coffee, a blend of espresso, coconut oil, grass-fed butter, and MCT oil.

It also served simple breakfast and lunch items that kept the regulars happy.
Nothing fancy, just a familiar neighbourhood routine.
Seeing a long-running independent cafe disappear always stings, but this space isn’t staying quiet for long.
Coo Coo Coffee now joins other spots that have quietly disappeared from the Vancouver food scene, including MeeT in Gastown, Cafe & Life Co. Cambie, and Jinmi Juga.
