Udon fans in Richmond just got the news they have been waiting for.
The world’s largest udon chain is officially expanding to CF Richmond Centre.
A Noms Magazine community member (@blogoodies) recently spotted the “Coming Soon” up under the new developments on Park Road, confirming the arrival of Marugame Udon.
This marks the first publically confirmed new business among these developments.

If you haven’t tried it yet, this isn’t just a standard noodle shop.
Founded in 2000, Marugame Udon is a massive global empire with over a thousand locations worldwide.
They are famous for their “Sanuki-style” noodles, which are thick, chewy, and treasured in Japan’s Kagawa Prefecture.
The experience is distinct because of their cafeteria-style operation.
You grab a tray and slide it down the line, watching the noodles get made right in front of you in an open kitchen.

After you get your bowl, you move to the tempura station to pick out fresh sides like golden vegetable fritters or chicken katsu.
This will be the brand’s second outpost in Metro Vancouver, following their downtown launch in 2024.
This month, they just expanded with their first Toronto location.
It is a huge win for Richmond, bringing affordable, fresh food to the mall without burning a hole in your wallet.
While the signage is up, there is no exact opening date just yet.
So for now, we play the waiting game.
Marugame Udon joins a very exciting list of upcoming openings in Richmond.
They will be opening alongside The Food Court, Crumbl Cookie, and Oishinoya.
