World’s Largest Mazesoba Chain To Open Second Richmond Outpost

CF Richmond Centre’s new development area is adding another name to its growing food lineup.

On February 2nd, Kokoro Mazesoba announced the closure of their Kitsilano location and is opening a new location at CF Richmond Centre’s Park Road developments.

This will be the chain’s second Richmond outpost, with the first being at Ironwood Plaza.

The team shared with Noms Magazine that they are looking to open in Fall 2026, and they are excited to welcome Richmond locals in the future.

For those unfamiliar, Kokoro started in 2013 and bills itself as the world’s largest mazesoba chain.

If you have never tried mazesoba, it is essentially a brothless ramen where the noodles are tossed with a concentrated sauce at the bottom of the bowl.

The idea is to mix everything together before eating, hence the name “maze” which means “to mix” in Japanese.

Think of it as the dry version of ramen, where all the flavour comes from the rich sauce coating each strand of noodle.

The chain claims this process creates a chewier, more flavourful noodle compared to standard ramen noodles.

Since 2018, Kokoro has expanded rapidly throughout BC.

Kokoro River District

The chain now operates 10 locations across the province, making it one of the more recognizable Japanese noodle brands in the region.

With this new location, Kokoro will be joining other announced food spots in the CF Richmond Centre development.

Breka Bakery is set to bring its 24 hour bakery and cafe concept to the area, giving Richmond residents a late night option for pastries and coffee.

Marugame Udon, the popular Japanese udon chain known for its fresh made noodles, is also headed there.

CF Richmond Centre Park Road Development

The Park Road side of CF Richmond Centre has been steadily transforming with new retail and dining options.

It is part of a broader push to make the mall a destination beyond just shopping.

Kokoro Mazesoba RC now joins a growing list of upcoming food spots in Richmond like Loon Fong Hotpot, Baskin Robbins at Lansdowne, and Horin Ramen.
