If you have been holding out hope for a specific Taiwanese dessert comeback on Robson Street, we have some bad news.
The rumours of a return were swirling, but the signage has officially changed.
We just spotted a new awning up at 1232 Robson Street.
It reveals that a concept called Raclette Steaks is taking over the space.
This location was previously home to Meet Fresh for 8 years.
The dessert giant closed this unit and their Richmond Union Square location back in March 2025.
However, when the brand made a surprise return to Richmond this summer, many locals assumed the downtown spot would be resurrected next.
That dream is now donezo.
We peeked through the front window and confirmed that the previous interior is gone.
The unit has been completely gutted and is currently getting ready for renovations.
While the “taro ball” era is over, the replacement sounds significantly heartier.
There is no digital footprint for the new business yet (except for an empty IG page), but the name is fairly self-explanatory.
You can likely expect a menu centered on grilled steaks served with melted raclette cheese.
This usually involves a “bonnet” of hot cheese scraped directly onto the meat, often accompanied by potatoes and pickled vegetables.
It is the kind of heavy, comfort-focused food that usually does well in rainy Vancouver winters.
This is just the latest in a string of major shake-ups for the famous shopping street.
Robson is currently in a massive transition period this year as it has seen several turnovers of food concepts.
There is currently no official opening date or menu released for Raclette Steaks.
We will keep an eye on the construction hoarding.
