After months of anticipation, Hồng Phát’s Richmond outpost is finally ready to welcome diners this week.

The iconic Vietnamese noodle house, famous for its Hủ Tiếu Nam Vang, will soft open on Friday, August 22.

The team shared with Noms Magazine that the opening comes after a string of permit and renovation delays.

To celebrate, they’ll be offering a 15% discount on Friday, along with a limited curated menu.

Tim from the Hồng Phát team told us that while the soft opening menu will be scaled back, the Richmond location is gearing up for even more than their Victoria Drive shop.

Once fully open, the restaurant will offer a wider selection of dishes in addition to their signature Phnom Penh-style noodle soup.

For those who may not know, Hồng Phát is a restaurant that began in 1970s Saigon as a humble noodle cart.

Over the decades, it’s become a household name thanks to their deeply flavourful bowls that blend Vietnamese, Cambodian, and Chinese influences.

The brand has been recognized with the MICHELIN Guide’s Bib Gourmand in both 2023 and 2024 for its consistency, flavour, and affordability.

Their first international location opened in Vancouver in 2022, and with their Richmond expansion, the team hopes to bring that same quality and history to even more diners.

The new restaurant takes over the former Suhang Restaurant unit on Ackroyd Road, offering bigger tables, ample parking, and plenty of space for families to gather over bowls of noodles, crispy chả giò, and mì vịt tiềm.

Hồng Phát joins a wave of new food spots that have recently opened in Richmond, including Meet Fresh, Shanghai Winning Baozi, and Malaya Kitchen.
