Firefighters arrived before 9 a.m. to tackle the blaze, which seemed to originate from the ground floor but extended through the three levels of the building to the roof.

According to Capt. Matthew Trudeau of the Vancouver Fire Rescue Services, the fire was intense enough to send flames shooting out of the roof at its peak.

Thankfully, by 10 AM, the fire was mostly under control, confined to the restaurant and sparing nearby businesses from significant harm.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The Parlour wasn’t the only establishment affected by Thursday’s emergency.

Next door’s Mexican restaurant, El Guapo, also suffered minor water damage but remains operational.

For now The Parlour shared on their social media that their restaurant is closed until further notice.
