Another beloved Vancouver food spot has sadly closed its doors.
Pizzeria Barbarella, the East Broadway pizza joint known for its Neapolitan pies with a NYC twist, has officially shut down.
The news came via their Instagram announcement on March 1st, with their final day of service on March 2nd.
In their heartfelt farewell message, Pizzeria Barbarella thanked their loyal customers, dedicated staff, and wonderful suppliers, acknowledging that while the business lacked financial success, it had always been a special place filled with community and connection.
Over the years, the cozy pizza shop hosted date nights, birthday parties, rainy-day cravings, and even unknowingly played matchmaker for several staff members who met their significant others while working there (with some even starting families!).
Barbarella first opened in 2012, loved for its thin, soft dough and high-quality ingredients.
Their Margherita pizza was a fan favourite, but they also served up unique creations like the Miele and their twist on the Hawaiian pizza.
Pair that with local craft beer on tap and an inviting atmosphere, and it’s no surprise this place had a loyal following.
With this closure, another longtime food staple joins the growing list of 2025 restaurant shutdowns like Cartems Donuts, Cottage Deli, Ming Fong Fast Food, Aphrodite’s Organic Cafe, and more.
