The group behind one of Vancouver’s most recognized Chinese restaurants has quietly launched an all-you-can-eat dim sum concept in Surrey, and the price is hard to ignore.
Neptune Corner is now open at Guildford Town Centre, offering 90 minutes of unlimited dim sum starting at $23.80 per person before 4 p.m. on weekdays.
That price is wild considering how expensive things are these days.
The restaurant is the first AYCE concept from Neptune Group, the team behind Michelin Recommended Neptune Palace Seafood Restaurant, as well as Neptune Noodle and Makan Time in Brentwood.
The format works like a traditional dim sum service with a twist.
You get an order sheet to tick off what you want across multiple rounds.
All the classics are on it, including har gow, siu mai, char siu bao, egg yolk lava buns, sesame balls, sticky rice in lotus leaf, and pan-fried daikon cake.
The snacks section includes items like fries, deep-fried mantou, fried rice, crispy fried chicken skin, and fried noodles.
Those come with every tier.
Beyond dim sum, Neptune Corner also offers DIY malatang hot pot with six broth options including mala, laksa, miso, and pork bone, plus grilled skewers for those who want the full spread.
There are three pricing tiers.
Dim sum only runs $23.80 on weekday lunches and $26.80 after 4 p.m. and on weekends.
Add the hot pot and it goes to $29.80 and $33.80 respectively.
The top tier at $38.80 (or $42.80 on evenings and weekends) includes dim sum, hot pot, and skewers.
Everyone at the same table has to pick the same tier, so no mixing.
Early visitors have noted that the dim sum quality is not going to rival a traditional sit-down spot, which is fair for an all-you-can-eat format.
But for under $24, the value is solid, especially for groups and families.
Kids aged 0 to 3 eat free, kids 4 to 10 get 50% off, and seniors 65 and older receive a 10% discount.
A $6 charge per leftover item applies to reduce food waste, so order what you can actually finish.
There aren’t many AYCE places these days so this will no doubt be a hit.
