New Juicy Braised Pork Hock Specialty Stall Coming To Richmond

Looks like another longtime Richmond food court stall is getting a new spot.

Spotted in Parker Place, a new vendor focused entirely on Longjiang-style braised pork hock rice (猪脚饭) is preparing to open.

It is taking over the former unit of Rainbow Café, a beloved stall whose owners quietly retired earlier this year after decades of service.

Yummy Pork proudly proclaims its dedication to this rich, meaty Chaoshan dish, known for its ultra-tender pork knuckle, savoury dark soy braise, and generous sauce-to-rice ratio.

If you’ve never heard of Longjiang-style pork hock rice, it’s a specialty from the Chaoshan region of Guangdong with deep roots and is said to be over a thousand years old.

Think tender braised pork, garlicky dipping sauce, mustard greens, soft-boiled egg, and purple rice – classic, humble, and comforting.

The sign also describes the meat as juicy, tender, fatty but not greasy.

This addition also marks another ripple in the wave of changes happening across Richmond’s food court scene.

From Aberdeen Centre to Empire Centre, we’re seeing more new spots springing up.

No official opening date has been posted yet, but it looks like things are progressing quickly.

We’ll keep our eyes (and stomachs) ready.
