Since then, many have been wondering what would take over the vacant unit at Richmond’s Union Square Shopping Centre.
We’ve been quietly keeping an eye on the unit for the past 3 months.
Well, the wait is finally over—we spotted signs for Binggo have gone up on the windows, revealing what’s next for the space!
While information about the Binggo brand is slim to none online, it doesn’t appear to be a large bubble tea chain.
We’ve made a post on Chinese social media to see if anyone else recognized the branding, but no one seemed to know.
So, it seems to be an independent concept with a playful and fun aesthetic.
Their branding features adorable, colourful cartoon characters that bring a whimsical and cheerful vibe to the shopfront.
One look at the signage, and it’s clear that Binggo is here to make an impression.
From what we can gather from the storefront, Binggo plans to offer a variety of treats, including ice jelly, bubble tea, bingsoo (Korean shaved ice), and ice cream.
They also emphasize using premium ingredients, offering low-fat, low-calorie options, and making everything fresh daily.
With Union Square already housing the highest concentration of bubble tea shops in Richmond, it’s refreshing to see a unique, independent brand stepping into the mix instead of another chain.
Union Square has been going through some notable changes recently.
The latter half of 2024 saw the arrival of Chayan and the closure of longtime favourite Bubble World.
Meanwhile, Sweet7 is slated to open in the plaza soon, making this an exciting time for foodies in the area.
For now, details about Binggo’s opening date or menu specifics remain under wraps.
