The space left behind by one of Kitsilano’s longest-running coffee shops has a new tenant, and it is a familiar name from just down the street.
Cafe Lokal has soft-opened a second location at 1966 West 4th Avenue in Vancouver.
They took over the unit that previously housed Jitters Caffe.
The new spot is called Lokal Sekondo.
“Oops we did it again. Cafe Lokal proudly presents our new location, come visit us at 1966 West 4th Avenue,” the announcement post on the @cafelokal Instagram page reads.
The soft opening hours are currently 8 a.m. to 4 p.m for now.
For those unfamiliar, Jitters Caffe was a Kitsilano staple that operated at the same address for more than 20 years before quietly closing in the summer of 2025.

Cafe Lokal’s original location is at 2610 West 4th Avenue, about seven blocks west near Trafalgar Street.
It opened back in 2016 and has been a neighbourhood fave since.
The new Sekondo location makes this the cafe’s second spot on the same street.
The cafe is owned by Zoran Milakovic and Sara D’Aviri, who created Cafe Lokal as an homage to their European roots.
The menu features Italian-style coffees, gourmet sandwiches and salads, fresh pastries, and homemade tiramisu on weekends.

The comments on the announcement are full of excited regulars.
One fan wrote, “I had no idea that it was you guys that were taking over the old Jitters Cafe on 4th Ave. Within 15 minutes of seeing this post, I had to drop what I was doing and go visit for my favourite avocado toast and ginger tea.”
The interior of the new space features the same cozy, European-inspired aesthetic that the original is known for.
Cafe Lokal now joins other recently opened food spots in Vancouver like Nomad Coffee Kits, Pho Goodness Main, and Mitchie Matcha.
