Another food spot is locking in at one of Burnaby’s biggest developments, and this one is bringing the plastic bibs and the boil bags.
Captain’s Boil is coming to Gilmore Place.
A Noms Mag community member (elizabeththe) recently spotted a coming soon sign for the seafood boil chain at the corner unit of the development, which sits right next to Gilmore SkyTrain Station.
This will be the brand’s first Burnaby location.
The chain already has spots in Richmond and 2 in Vancouver (Robson & Kingsway), but until now, Burnaby has been left out.
If you have not been, Captain’s Boil is a Canadian franchise known for its hands-on seafood boil experience.
You pick your catch, whether that is lobster, king crab legs, shrimp, clams, or mussels.
Then you choose your sauce and spice level.
It all comes out in a bag and gets dumped straight onto your table.
It is messy, loud, and that is the whole point.
The sauces lean into Asian-inspired flavours, with options like Cajun, lemon pepper, and garlic butter.
They also do fresh oysters, lobster bisque, bacon-wrapped scallops, and sides like corn and potatoes.
It is the kind of spot that works best with a big group and zero regard for table manners.
The brand originally launched in Ontario and has since expanded across Canada with locations in multiple provinces.
Gilmore Place has been quietly stacking its food lineup over the past year.
The development already has Big Way Hot Pot, Sun Tea, Trees Coffee, Galbi Korean BBQ, KFC, and more to open.
T&T Supermarket is also slated to open at the site, which would make this one of the more food-dense mixed-use projects in Burnaby.
Captain’s Boil joining the mix adds another layer to what is shaping up to be a serious food destination on this side of the city.
For anyone living near Gilmore Station, the convenience factor alone is worth paying attention to.
No official opening date has been announced yet for Captain’s Boil at Gilmore Place.
Captain’s Boil Gilmore now joins other upcoming food spots in Burnaby like One Cafe Crystal Mall, Yinji Chang Fen, and Tiramisu Republic.
