Vancouver’s love for matcha and dessert culture just leveled up with the arrival of 66 Dessert House, the newest sweet spot on Kingsway.

It also shares its home with the viral matcha cafe, Matcha Corner.

Officially soft opened at the end of June, 66 Dessert House is run by the same family behind Shun Fa Noodle House on Victoria Drive.

But instead of build-your-own noodle bowls, this venture focuses entirely on classic Chinese dessert soups and traditional sweets.

You may have noticed that Chinese dessert soups have been growing in popularity lately.

Unlike Matcha Corner, which opens at noon, 66 Dessert House currently only operates from 5PM until late, making it a solid post-dinner or evening dessert option.

Guests can order for takeout or dine in, and there’s plenty of space to chill thanks to their clean, modern interior.

The shared café space features soft wood tones, neutral seating, and lots of tables.

The menu is loaded with variety, covering everything from mango sago pomelo and matcha jelly noodles to more traditional picks like tofu pudding, steamed milk egg pudding, black glutinous rice, and herbal jelly.

There are also a few durian-based desserts, appetizers like curry fish balls and wings, and refreshers such as lemon honey drinks and milk teas.

You can customize dishes with toppings like grass jelly, soft mochi, and sago.

We got the matcha pudding and mango pudding from the signature section for takeout.

Both desserts were chilled, not too sweet, and offered that familiar, comforting texture you’d expect from these classics.

Nothing flashy, but totally satisfying – especially on a hot evening.

66 Dessert House now joins a growing lineup of new food spots in Vancouver like Bento Cafe, La Chuoi Cuisine, and Nin Nin Ramen.
