For a long time, Richmond has been seriously lacking in independent coffee shops.
But it seems the tides are slowly turning!
And we are ones to champion cute aesthetic cafes.
One of its newest additions is Miion Cafe, which soft opened on Saturday, November 9th, across from Richmond Centre.
According to Miion Cafe’s philosophy, they are all about embracing change and new possibilities.
Inspired by the concept of “ion,” Miion symbolizes transformation—a “molecular” renewal.
The owner, Mia, sees a cup of coffee as more than just a drink; for her, it’s a spark of inspiration or a remedy to ease anxiety, propelling her into a vibrant “ionic state.”
This new cafe aims to bring that kind of energy to Richmond, offering a refreshing new space to escape the ordinary.
The cafe’s minimalistic and airy interior reflects this idea of transformation too.
Cozy seating, potted plants, colourful chess sets, and stylish wall art all create an inviting atmosphere that’s both relaxed and trendy.
Considering Mia’s background as a singer and musician, it’s no surprise that Miion Cafe has a musical touch to it as well.
Vinyl displays on the shelves and soulful background music make it clear that this isn’t just a place for coffee, but also for creativity and good calm vibes.
But if you’re thinking of lounging around for a while and do some studying, do note that there are only 3 tables available.
The menu is packed with all the specialty coffee favourites: lattes, flat whites, cortados, and more.
They also have some popular non-coffee options like matcha and hojicha lattes.
While not listed on the menu, pour-overs are available too, and during our visit, they were using Copenhagen’s April Panama beans—perfect for those who enjoy sweet, citrusy notes.
Pastry lovers won’t be disappointed either, with a variety of croissants, muffins, and loaves supplied by Doe Coffee.
If you love cute, aesthetic coffee shops, Miion Cafe is a great addition to your list of “to visit”.
Aside from Miion Cafe, other recent additions to Richmond’s cafe scene include Fresh Press Coffee, Paragon Tea Room, and Cafe & Life Co.
