After Autostrada shut down their West Pender location, the unit will now be taken over by the upcoming new family-style Italian joint, Locanda dell’Orso.
Situated under the iconic Victorian Hotel, Locanda dell’Orso (Italian for ‘Inn of the Bear’) promises an Italian escapade with deep roots in tradition and an eye for modern finesse.
This restaurant is inspired by the charming Italian legend where a bear, having escaped from the Colosseum, finds refuge and sustenance at an innkeeper’s courtyard.
Founded by seasoned experts in the culinary field, Locanda dell’Orso is the brainchild of Ianna Vazquez (Nuba), Head Chef Marquella Uhrig (Kevin & Kevin Juice), Doireann Walsh, (Donnellan’s Irish Pub); and Bar Manager Riccardo Farina (ex-CinCin).
This team brings together decades of culinary experience.
The team has transformed the previous Autrostrada space into a fusion of old-world charm and modernist Italian art, reflective of the Futurism movement.
The menu is a celebration of Italy’s diverse culinary landscape, featuring dishes from Northern and Coastal Italy.
You’ll find pasta to exquisite seafood, each designed to offer a slice of Italian heritage, complemented by a curated selection of Italian and BC wines.
The grand opening is slated for mid-May 2024.
