It looks like Richmond is getting yet another new Hong Kong/Macau-style cafe (cha chaan teng).
And honestly, we’re not complaining.
With the popularity of recent spots like Cha Don and One Cafe, which are constantly packed with locals, this city’s love for cha chaan teng eats has always been there.
And now, there’s a new contender on the horizon: Mantung Cafe, which is set to open its doors on June 8th, according to signage we spotted at the storefront and their newly listed Google business profile.

They will be taking over the previous home of Afuri Ramen on Alderbridge, which is in the process of relocating to a larger space near IKEA.
According to the signage, Mantung Cafe is bringing Hong Kong/Macau-style cha chaan teng fare, with a focus on signature roast BBQ meats.
The posters proudly showcase plates of roast duck and char siu, alongside lemon tea, and Macau BBQ Meat with rice.
Interestingly, their roast meats will be available in three scheduled batches throughout the day: 11:00 AM, 4:00 PM, and 7:00 PM.
Their daily roast BBQ meats are promoted as a signature highlight, with signs referencing “Macau-style BBQ meats” and “soul-warming comfort dishes.”
Not much else is known about the brand as their online presence is basically nonexistent even though they proudly showcase their handle.
Richmond is already brimming with cha chaan tengs, so time will tell if Mantung Cafe can carve out its place in the scene.
Will you be checking it out when it opens?
