New Italian Sandwich and Pizza Shop Opening Soon on Main Street

Main Street is about to get a fresh dose of Italian comfort food.

We spotted signage for Mortadella, a new sandwich and pizza shop set to take over the old Pizzeria Farina space.

Farina was a neighbourhood staple for nearly 13 years before closing earlier this year, so locals will be pleased to know that slices are making a comeback in the same spot.

The signage hints at a menu built around sandwiches and slices, keeping things casual while filling a gap left behind by Farinaโ€™s departure.

According to a report from Scout Magazine with co-owner Stephen Wiese, Mortadella will focus on a handful of classic Italian sandwiches and pizzas.

Guests can grab them whole or by the slice, and the laid-back vibe of Farina is expected to carry over into the new space.

With the sign already up and construction looking close to done, Mortadella is expected to open its doors very soon.

For those craving a simple slice or a hearty Italian sandwich, this could quickly become a new go-to on Main.

Mortadella now joins a wave of new food spots opening across Vancouver, including Yunqueen Rice Noodles, Miso Taco, and TOUK.
