There’s a new reason to stop along East Broadway and it smells like fresh-baked brioche and matcha!
Moodbe Cafe, a new Korean-inspired coffee and bakeshop, has quietly soft opened across from Kingsgate Mall as of June 7.
Tipped off by a Noms Mag community member (by E), we dropped in to see what the buzz was about.
Ira Jean Fernandez, Moodbe’s Project Manager, shared with Noms Magazine that the inspiration behind the cafe was a personal one for the owner.

The owner, a former architect and construction company head, dreamed of building a space that offered warmth, connection, and a cozy spot where people could slow down and enjoy life’s little moments.
With help from Ira, who also aided in opening up Goldie’s Donuts & Bakery in West Van, Moodbe was brought to life, blending thoughtful design and cultural identity into a single cup.
The menu here offers more than your standard lattes and croissants though.
For instance one of the cafe’s signatures is the iced Ube Matcha Cloud, an earthy-sweet drink that blends creamy ube and matcha in a colourful layered treat.
They also serve up specialty beverages like Yuzu Sparkling Ade, Oreo Matcha Cloud, Iced Ube Coconut, and more.
As for the pastry game, it’s strong.
Moodbe makes many of their pastries fresh each morning in-house.
During our visit, we saw scones, croissants, and muffins, but what really caught our eye were the Goldie’s Donuts.
You’ve probably seen these pillowy brioche donuts blow up on social before, but they’ve been mostly limited to West Vancouver or, well, Korea.
Now, Moodbe offers a rotating selection of these treats daily.
When we dropped in, they had three flavours: Strawberry Milkshake, Vanilla Cream Custard, and Chocolate Cream Custard.
We got the custard one and it DID NOT disappoint: pillowy, filled generously, and not too sweet.
(But RIP to our car as we made a mess from the powdered sugar)
We’ll let you decide for yourself where it ranks vs. other Korean donuts like Mello and Unni Pastries.
The interior of Moodbe is a lesson in subtle elegance and simplicity.
Neutral tones, a textured feature wall, soft lighting, and hexagonal tiles make it feel like the kind of space you’ll want to linger in.
There are currently 14 indoor seats, with patio seating planned to bump capacity to 22.
During their soft opening phase (until June 20), they are only open 8AM – 4PM daily.
Moodbe joins the city’s latest wave of aesthetic Korean-style cafes and dessert-forward hangouts like Cafe Episode and Cafe Algan.
And while Vancouver’s café scene continues to grow crowded, this one brings something special, especially if you’ve been craving a spot that serves Goldie’s donuts.
