The hot pot craze in Metro Vancouver isn’t stopping!
After the closure of Dinesty Lite in Richmond, a new spot called Piping Hot was spotted back in September, leaving us all curious about what was to come.
Well, the wait is over—Piping Hot has officially soft opened, and it’s a new haven for malatang and hot pot lovers.
It follows the trend of personalized hot pot bowls much like Grandma Liu or Big Way, where you pay by the weight of your bowl.
@heyitsjesschan ✨NEW✨ RESTAURANT IN METRO VANCOUVER! . Another new spot to add to the Richmond food scene is @pipinghot.bc ! Similarly, you’ll find a wall filled with fresh ingredients—from seafood to veggies and a variety of meats—ready for you to customize your bowl.
Although Big Way fans may feel at home, there are some notable differences here.
One is their slightly larger selection of soup bases.
They offer 12 different types of soup and even a dry-mix option.
You’ll find classics like Tomato, Tom Yum, Miso, and Collagen Bone Broth, but there are also unique options such as Pumpkin, 3 Delicacies, and Black Pepper Soup to try.
Another standout feature is the entire fried food section, where you can pick from crispy delights like king oyster mushrooms and fried chicken that taste just like the ones from Taiwan’s night markets.
According to a post by Suiki, the owner of Piping Hot is from Taiwan, so the authenticity really shines through in the flavours.
The final difference is in the dessert.
Each customer gets a complimentary taiyaki ice cream for dessert—an extra sweet ending to your hot pot meal.
This is a significant distinction, as most other hot pot spots stick with just soft serve or cones. An entire freshly made taiyaki filled with ice cream is a delightful surprise!
With Piping Hot now joining the two lively plazas on Ackroyd Road, foodies are spoiled for choice between Big Way Hot Pot, the newly opened Gyubee, and Piping Hot.
If you’re craving a hot meal with lots of options and an authentic touch, this new Richmond spot is a must-visit!
