Another big change is coming to Kitsilanoโ€™s food scene, and this time itโ€™s from the team behind a MICHELIN recommended Thai spot.

Charm Thai Eatery by Zab Bite is preparing to open in early November 2025, taking over the former Surenโ€™s Kits Bar & Grill space.

With seating for up to 150 guests across 5,000 square feet, the new restaurant will also feature a patio ready for next spring and summer.

Head chef and co-owner Percy Tan shared with Noms Magazine that Charm is about building on the foundation they created with Zab Bite.

โ€œWhen I first moved to Vancouver, I found it difficult to find authentic Thai food,โ€ he said.

โ€œTo fill that gap, we started inviting friends over every week, and I would cook them whatever dishes they were craving. Seeing how much joy and comfort they found in those meals reminded me of what it feels like to be home, even when youโ€™re far away. That experience is really what inspired us to start Zab Bite and grow us into building Charm Thai Eatery.โ€

Zab Bite Thai E-Sarn Cuisine opened just two years ago and was added to the MICHELIN Recommended list in 2024.

Now, Charm aims to take that same authenticity and scale it into a dining experience thatโ€™s as comfortable for a casual night out as it is for a celebration.

Unlike Zab Bite, which was primarily North-Eastern Thai food, Charm’s menu will showcase signature dishes from across Thailand, prepared with fresh ingredients and plated with care.

Designed for sharing, the portions reflect the way Thai meals are traditionally enjoyed.

To pair with the food, Charm is developing a beverage program with a curated wine selection and a cocktail menu inspired by the vibrancy of Thai dining.

Inside, the space is designed to feel warm and modern with subtle cultural touches.

โ€œFor us, it wasnโ€™t about being in a busy commercial strip, but rather creating something in a residential area with some local businesses around it,โ€ Percy explained.

โ€œThat way, it feels like a place the locals can share, enjoy, and feel connected to.โ€

Charm Thai Eatery will soon join a wave of anticipated openings in Vancouver, including Dante on Commercial Drive, Jackโ€™s Chowder downtown, and Sud Soi.
