A brand new cafe just opened at one of East Vancouver’s busiest intersections, and the interior might be one of the prettiest in the chain’s 30-year history.

Trees Organic Coffee has officially opened its new location at King Edward Village, near the corner of Kingsway and Knight Street.

The Vancouver-born coffee chain made the announcement on Instagram over the weekend, writing “Fresh coffee in the air, cheesecake in the display, and a brand new space waiting for you. It’s finally happening… we’re OPEN.”

We first spotted this location back in early March when construction was still underway.

At the time, staff on-site told us they were targeting an April 2026 opening, so this is actually ahead of schedule.

The space looks even better than expected.

Photos from the opening show a large forest mural stretching across one of the main walls, giving the interior a moody, Pacific Northwest feel.

There are floor-to-ceiling windows wrapping around the corner of the building, flooding the cafe with natural light.

The seating mix includes bar stools along a light wood counter, small round tables, booth-style curved banquettes, and dark leather lounge chairs tucked into corners.

It has that polished but cozy vibe that Trees has been leaning into with its newer locations.

The unit was previously occupied by Hakim Optical before Trees took it over.

For those unfamiliar, Trees Organic Coffee has been a Vancouver staple since 1996.

They are known for their organic fair-trade coffee and their New York-style cheesecakes, which have built a loyal following across the city.

The chain now has around 14 locations across Metro Vancouver and has been expanding aggressively near transit corridors in recent years.

This opening also comes shortly after Trees quietly closed its longtime Davie Village location in mid-February.

That spot was one of its most visible storefronts in the West End, sitting in the busy stretch of Davie Street between Bute and Thurlow.

A new concept called Organic Bites has since taken over the Davie Street unit.

The shift seems intentional.

Trees appears to be pulling back from some of its older street-level spots while doubling down on high-traffic, transit-adjacent locations.

Trees Coffee King Edward Village now joins other recently opened food spots in Vancouver like Nando’s Kerrisdale, Plain Jane, and Stackhouse Sandwich Gastown.
