With the economy being at its current state, the demand for food assistance reaches new heights in Greater Vancouver.
The Greater Vancouver Food Bank (GVFB) has been a lifeline for many, with over 9 million lbs of food distributed in 2023 alone.
But in just 2023 alone, 9000 new individuals registered to the food bank.
To raise awareness about food insecurity and help generate funds to purchase healthy food, GVFB’s annual cookbook project returns.
The Nourish, Flourish Cookbook isn’t your average recipe collection. It’s the third edition of a heartfelt project that brings together 11 mouth-watering recipes from some of the area’s most beloved chefs, bakers, and iconic restaurants.
Participating culinary talents include names like Chambar, Casa Mia, and Joe Fortes Seafood & Chophouse, ensuring a diverse palette of flavours.
Whether you’re craving savory stews, sweet jams, or anything in between, Nourish, Flourish has you covered.
The recipes are a mix of tried-and-true dishes straight from restaurant menus (70%) and brand-new concoctions (30%) dreamed up specifically for the cookbook.
For instance, you’ll get the master plans to create The Lunch Lady’s Lemongrass Chicken Skewers – a dish that promises to bring a zing to your dining table.
But it’s not just about the food.
The cookbook is a slice of their larger mission to provide healthy food to those in need while raising awareness about food insecurity.
Every purchase goes directly towards buying fresh, healthy food for GVFB clients, making each recipe a step towards a healthier community.
The Greater Vancouver Food Bank is more than just a food distribution center. It’s a community hub that supports over 16,000 people each month through direct distribution and over 130+ partner agencies.
Available for purchase at the GVFB store, this cookbook is your chance to transform your kitchen adventures into acts of kindness.
