Pablo Cheese Tart In Vancouver Temporarily Closed After Owner Injured In Accident

If youโ€™ve walked by Broadway and Cambie recently and noticed Pablo Cheese Tart shuttered, it is only temporary.

On September 10, the shop announced through its BC Instagram account that the owner of this franchise had been involved in a car accident.

The post shared that they would be closed for at least a week, with updates to follow.

As of October 1, the shop remains closed and no further updates have been provided online.

Pablo Cheese Tart was born in Osaka, Japan, in 2011 by founder Masamitsu Umoto. His goal was to create a cheesecake unlike any other, which led to months of experimenting and strict control over baking methods and oven temperatures.

The result became the brandโ€™s signature Freshly Baked Cheese Tart, known for its fluffy texture and golden apricot jam glaze.

Each tart balances sweetness, tartness, and a touch of salt for a light yet rich bite.

Since then, Pablo has expanded worldwide, with shops across Japan, Southeast Asia, and Canada.

Vancouverโ€™s outpost opened in July 2023 on West Broadway across from City Hall Station.

The store quickly stood out with its spacious interior and giant L-shaped marble counter showcasing rows of colorful mini tarts and their classic cheese tarts.

In recent months, the Vancouver shop also began expanding beyond its signature products, bringing in Taiwanโ€™s October Sweet Boston Pie cakes and partnering with EF N Be Bakehouse to offer the viral baked Shokupan Cream Toast.

These additions made the shop a destination not just for Pabloโ€™s originals, but for some of Asiaโ€™s most talked-about desserts.

The local shopโ€™s temporary closure has left fans waiting, but many have shared supportive messages online wishing the owner a full and quick recovery.

Although there are no further updates yet, we hope the owner recovers soon and the shop can once again welcome customers back to enjoy one of Japanโ€™s most beloved desserts!
