Earlier this year, the mega-popular French-inspired Korean bakery cafe chain, Paris Baguette, announced plans to expand into the Canadian market.
Like – aggressive expansion.
While it was confirmed that Vancouver would be among the cities for its expansion plans, specific locations remained a mystery.
Until now cause we found it.
This week we spotted ‘Coming Soon’ signs in downtown Vancouver, heralding the arrival of the city’s first Paris Baguette.
This is great since Toronto and Calgary already got their taste of the Korean bakery cafe.
Set to open on Alberni Street, the bakery finds itself in distinguished company, sandwiched between the upcoming Din Tai Fung and the Michelin-recognized Archer restaurant.
Final Touches Before the Big Reveal
The team at Paris Baguette shared with Noms Magazine that they’re in the midst of finalizing permits (you know how slow Vancouver is for that), which means we’ll have to wait a little longer for the exact opening dates.
On a brighter note, they’ve also hinted at multiple locations in the pipeline.
One is set for South Coquitlam, in one of the towers at the upcoming SOCO mixed-use community by Anthem, with a target completion date of November 2024.
Who is Paris Baguette: From Seoul to the World
Founded in 1988 in South Korea, Paris Baguette looks to reestablish the neighbourhood bakery café. That means offering a bakery cafe space that feels just like home.
With over 4,000 stores worldwide and a growing footprint in Canada, the chain has already made a splash in Toronto and Calgary (theirs opened a few days ago).
Its ambitious goal of establishing 1,000 bakery cafés in North America by 2030 signifies its aggressive expansion and mission to become a cornerstone of neighbourhood communities.
A Glimpse into Paris Baguette’s Charm
If the Toronto and Calgary locations are anything to go by, Vancouver’s Paris Baguette will be a feast for both the eyes and the palate.
Customers can expect large self-serve displays brimming with an array of fresh pastries, breads, and cakes.
An open kitchen will offer a sneak peek into the artistry of Paris Baguette’s bakers.
Signature items like the Strawberry Soft Cream Cake and mochi donuts are likely to be featured, all within a brightly lit café space that blends modern design with French architectural nuances.
Paris Baguette’s entrance in Vancouver is more than just the launch of a bakery; it’s a good sign that regardless of the economy – chains are seeing the city as a spot worth investing in.
