Two years after a fire devastated Kerrisdaleโ€™s main strip and one of the affected food spots is officially coming back.

A Noms Mag Community member (@bonappe_ty) spotted signs for Nandoโ€™s at the previous Jess’ Restaurant unit.

The restaurant has also recently confirmed its Kerrisdale restaurant is returning.

In an Instagram post, the chicken chain shared, โ€œTwo years ago, a devastating fire tore through Kerrisdale, destroying several beloved businesses โ€” including ours. It was a difficult time for the whole neighbourhood, but through it all, the support from this community never faded.โ€

The post continues with good news: โ€œNandoโ€™s Kerrisdale is coming back โ€” just down the street at a brand-new location! Work will be starting soon, and weโ€™ll keep you posted on renovations and reopening plans.โ€

The announcement follows years of anticipation after a massive 2023 fire destroyed multiple local favourites, including Deer Island Bakery, Sandy Farm Market, Yummy Yoghurt, Pho Tan, and Westside Vapes.

Four firefighters were injured while battling the blaze, which left parts of Kerrisdaleโ€™s business strip unrecognizable.

The Kerrisdale Business Association, at the time called the incident โ€œhorrific,โ€ and many locals mourned the loss of their go-to spots.

Fans can expect the same flame-grilled PERi-PERi chicken, legendary sauces, and lively atmosphere that made the Kerrisdale spot a neighbourhood favourite.

No official reopening date has been shared yet, but based on the post, renovations are set to begin soon.

The new Nandoโ€™s will be joining the growing list of new Vancouver food spots, including Kavita, Giusti, and Onigiri Ya.
