Global Korean Pizza Chain That Uses Green Tea Dough Shuts Down Robson Outpost

Downtown Vancouver is seeing huge changes recently with spots shutting down and new ones taking over. This is due to the troubling economy that the industry is being faced with.

On March 4th, Pizza Maru’s Robson St. Instagram page shared that they had shut down the business.

It was B.C.’s first branch of the global Korean pizza chain that opened back in February 2023.

Pizza Maru is most known for its dough – a patented Green Tea Dough, to be exact.

This innovative dough is made from 10 natural grains, including green tea, chlorella, oats, rye, and barley, among others.

This special blend not only offers a unique taste and texture but also a healthier twist to your usual pizza fare.

Their menu featured classics like pepperoni and cheese pizzas and an array of special Korean-style options such as a cheese-laden Kaboom Cheese Bomb and Holy Honey Sweet Potato.

Just last week Pizza Maru opened a new franchise location in the Lougheed area.

The goodbye post encouraged people to continue to find their Korean pizza at Katsuya in Langley.

Considering that Katsuya was the brand previously at the Robson Street Pizza Maru, this indicates they must be the same owner.

The post ends with teasing of a new brand coming to the space.

We’ll have to wait and see what concept will give a try at this unit next.
