Pop Mart isn’t stopping at Richmond.
The popular toy brand has now been spotted setting up shop at Burnaby’s Metropolis at Metrotown.
Coming soon signage has gone up at an upper-level corner unit across from Nespresso and beside People’s Jewellers.
This marks the second official Pop Mart store planned for BC, following the Richmond Centre location we reported on earlier this month.
For those who aren’t familiar, Pop Mart is a China-based toy company founded in 2010 that built a global following with its collectible “blind box” figures.
Its most famous character is Labubu, though the company also has multiple other IPs under its belt.
Blind boxes remain the heart of the brand’s appeal, offering customers the surprise of not knowing which specific figure they’ll unbox until the moment of reveal.
The Burnaby opening comes at an interesting time.
While Labubu’s hype has cooled slightly in recent months, Pop Mart continues to expand with new collaborations and character launches to keep collectors hooked.
A full storefront presence in a mall like Metropolis also ensures fans can count on authenticity and fresh drops without having to rely on resellers or vending machines.
No word yet on when the Metropolis shop will officially open, but for toy fans across Metro Vancouver, the fact that Pop Mart is doubling down with two locations in the region is a sign the brand still sees plenty of appetite here.
