Coffee lovers, this one’s for you!
The popular Japanese coffee shop chain % Arabica has quietly made its way to Downtown Vancouver with a sleek pop-up kiosk.
If you’re a fan of their signature brews, you’ll want to check this out before it’s gone.
Earlier this month, a community member (@0370van) shared with us a rumour about how % Arabica was opening somewhere in the Downtown Waterfront area.
Yesterday, another community member (@likebyregina) shared with Noms Magazine that they spotted the pop-up at the Oakridge Park Gallery, next to the Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel.
Who is %Arabica?
Founded in 2013 by Kenneth Shoji, % Arabica has become a global sensation, known for its exceptional coffee and iconic minimalist design. With stores in 24 countries, the brand’s mission is to let us “See the World Through Coffee.”
Their Whistler Village outpost, which opened in July after a brief delay, marked BC’s first % Arabica location.
Now, Vancouverites can get a taste of their coffee without having to head to the mountains.
And knowing that we could skip going to Whistler for % Arabica, we had to take a look for ourselves!
The Downtown pop-up is a tiny, glass greenhouse-like structure tucked inside the back area of the Oakridge Park Gallery.
It’s small, with just enough space for three staff members and a full coffee machine set up.
Despite the limited footprint, the pop-up stays true to % Arabica’s signature clean lines and minimalist aesthetics, complete with a glowing % Arabica logo to guide you to your caffeine fix.
On the menu, you’ll find most of the espresso-based drinks % Arabica is famous for, including the Kyoto Latte, Spanish Latte, and Maple Latte, available hot or iced.
They’re also serving up matcha lattes and sparkling lemonade for those looking for something different.
However, even with the small space, we saw some customers in front of us purchase some branded merchandise or beans.
There are NO pastries available.
According to the % Arabica staff, the pop-up is still kind of a secret and just soft opened a couple days ago. Some state that it will be only available until September 16th, but this not confirmed.
Technically it has not been officially announced even though the exterior windows of Oakridge Park Gallery does have signage up promoting % Arabica’s arrival.
The staff also stated that they’ll be there for probably for around a month, running 7 days a week from 9AM to 5PM.
But if you’re craving a taste of Japan’s most stylish coffee brand and want to avoid having to go all the way to Whistler, this is now your chance!
