Even though new spots have been popping up all over Metro Vancouver, there’s some sad news for ramen lovers.
AKD Kitchen Soup, one of the best ramen joints in New Westminster, closed its doors on Sunday, August 25th after 4 years and 8 months of operation.
The popular ramen spot made the abrupt announcement on their Instagram on August 23rd, leaving fans of their comforting bowls of ramen in shock.
AKD Kitchen first opened in Langley in 2018 before expanding to a cozy location near the New Westminster Skytrain station in 2019.
Known for serving up soul-warming dishes like ramen, dumplings, and soups, AKD quickly became a go-to spot for many.
Their ajitama ramen and the Red miso-based ramen were standout favs, with fresh, handmade noodles crafted without eggs.
In fact, in 2023, we even featured AKD as one of the must-try food spots in Metro Vancouver.
In their announcement post, the restaurant didn’t specify why they were closing, but that didn’t stop a flood of comments from devastated fans who were saddened by the loss of one of the city’s best ramen shops.
However, there’s a glimmer of hope—AKD hinted in a reply to a customer that they have several projects in the works.
The AKD Kitchen team did tell Noms Magazine that there aren’t any plans for any Vancouver shops though.
And for those who can’t bear to say goodbye, AKD’s Langley outpost will remain open, continuing to serve up their beloved ramen.
