If you commute through Commercial-Broadway, your dinner options are about to shift gears.
We recently lost the comfort of Hon’s Wonton House near the station.
But city filings reveal a major player is moving into the empty space at 1661 East Broadway.
Kinton Ramen is officially taking over.
This is a massive change for the neighbourhood, which lacks ramen options.

While we mourn the loss of affordable wonton soup, the arrival of this Toronto-born heavyweight makes perfect sense.
It fits perfectly into a busy transit hub where commuters need something fast and hot.
If you have not visited their other locations, Kinton is known for being loud, lively, and consistent.
They started in Toronto back in 2012 and have been aggressively expanding across Metro Vancouver.
They specialize in customizable bowls built around slow-simmered pork and chicken broths.
It is the kind of food that hits the spot on a rainy Vancouver commute.
You can expect rich jalapeño miso options and lighter chicken broths.

They also serve solid sides like karaage and gyoza which are perfect for sharing.
We do not have an official opening date just yet. However, the vibe will likely mirror their other shops.
Likely to include counter seats facing an open kitchen, plenty of warm wood, and a fast-paced energy.

This move is just one part of their massive expansion plan.
The brand is already working on its first Coquitlam shop at Sunwood Square, a Richmond restaurant, and a Burnaby outpost in the Brentwood area.
With East Broadway now joining that list, the Skytrain corridor is getting a serious noodle upgrade.
We will be watching this space closely for an opening date.
Kinton Ramen joins other upcoming Vancouver food spots like Nine Bar Coffee, Dario Broadway, and Big Mama’s & Papa’s Pizza.
