[BREAKING] Popular MACU Tea Closes Two Metro Vancouver Locations Abruptly

If you were counting down the days to mango season at MACU Tea, this is going to hurt.

A Noms Mag community member (itsclarissawong) shared MACU Tea’s announcement on Instagram that it is closing its Burnaby and Robson Street locations starting February 23, 2026.

The caption reads, “After careful consideration, we will be closing our Burnaby and Robson location starting February 23, 2026.”

“With deep appreciation for our community’s support, we look forward to what the future may bring. See you soon.”

The timing is what makes this one sting.

MACU Tea is most known for its seasonal mango drinks, which typically launch in the spring and draw massive lines through the summer months.

During mango season, it was common to see lineups stretching out the door at both the Burnaby and Richmond locations, with fans waiting for drinks like the King of Mango Smoothie, Chi-Chi Mango Smoothie, and Bo-Bo Mango Smoothie.

The comments on the closure post reflected that.

Multiple fans said they were heartbroken about missing mango season, with one writing “why I was looking forward to mango season”.

MACU Tea is a Taiwanese bubble tea brand founded in 2008 with over 330 outlets worldwide.

The brand is known for its “Drinking Dessert” concept, which treats beverages like a dessert experience using fresh fruit and natural ingredients.

Staff juice fresh fruits in front of customers in store, and each cup is made to order.

The Robson Street location opened in June 2024, taking over the former Good Dogs unit beside Ramen Danbo.

The Burnaby location at 4429 Kingsway opened around the same time that summer.

Both had been operating for less than two years.

MACU Tea’s Richmond location on Capstan Way remains open.

The Kerrisdale location on West Boulevard also remains open, though it is independently owned and operated by a different franchisee and is not part of this closure.

The “See you soon” at the end of the announcement suggests the brand may not be gone from these areas permanently, but nothing further has been confirmed.

MACU Tea Burnaby and Robson now joins other recently closed food spots in Metro Vancouver like Hundy, JOJO Pot, and Buca di Roma.
